Hello.

Today we learnt to greet and count to five in Chinese. Jim, our Chinese teacher taught us, he comes every Monday to teach us something new each week.

1 is Yi
2 is Er
3 is San
4 is Si
5 is Wu

We also learnt the Chinese symbols and how to write them in Chinese for Hello (Ni Hao) and one to five.
 Hello!

We can't wait until next Monday when we will learn to count 6-10 and hand symbols for numbers.

This weeks assembly award winner

Our award this week goes to Mia  for being a reflective, questioning learner. Great job Mia and awesome that Dad was there to see it.

Zealandia Trip

Thanks to all the parents who attended today's trip with us, and to all of those who also offered to help.  We had a wonderful visit to Zealandia nursery today and learnt a lot about what it takes to run a successful business.  There was so much to see and learn about and the children were amazed at the technology and process's involved in the production of these plants in preparation for sale.  To be able to see this all in action on a regular working day was an invaluable experience.  You can see some photos below but please also ask your children to tell you about what they saw and heard.
A massive thank you to Graham Windross who has taken a considerable amount of time out of his busy working week to make time to take all six classes on individual tours of his plant over this two week period.

Ozobots on the Tinker table

Today we got Ozobots, little robots controlled by colour coding.  For 30 mins groups of four could tinker with these Ozobots. The groups created codes to make them zig zag, twirl, do the tornado move and use the nitro boost to make them go really fast.  The groups had to problem solve, think, discuss ideas, experiment and be creative in order to get a successful outcome. Ask questions about this tonight at home.

Todays Assembly Winner

Our assembly winner today was the fabulous Travis who won this award for: always working hard and asking lots of questions when he does not understand.  

Congratulations Travis those are the kind of people we love having in Room 2.
