Collaborative Leonardo da vinci learning with Mrs Harding

Creative juices are flowing today as children collaborate together on their Leonardo invention posters designs.
It is great to see the children using their research, skimming and scanning, creative, and deeper thinking skills to come up with a unique design and then sell it is such a way to hook the buyers in

A lot of fun is being had along the way also.

Personal swimming success celebration

An article from Chris about his recent swimming experience.  Congratulations Chris.

My name is Chris and I joined HPK (Howick Pakuranga Swimming Club) in 2014.  This year is the first time I have qualified for the New Zealand Swimming Nationals Competition.  I was excited and nervous.  My Mum and Dad just wanted me to do my best at the competition.
Day 1 - 19th February, First event 50m Breastroke with a finishing time of 45:06. I was pretty happy when the coach told me that he got 9th place in the whole of New Zealand.
Day 2 - 20th February, 200m Breastroke, I got 8th place in New Zealand, my time was 3:31.23.
Day 3 - 21st February, two events in a row, first event was the 200m Individual Medley, my final time was 3.15, I got 18th place.  Last event 100m Breastroke.  I was hoping to make the top 5 or higher...and the result was 5th, with the finishing time of 1:37.85.  From the National Juniors, I now understand I will get great results if I train hard.  I also learnt I must stand up immediately after I make a mistake on one event, and pay attention to the next event
After the 2016 NZ National Juniors competition I start training for my next challenge – 11 years old NZ National Junior in 2017.

My dream is to be an Olympic swimmer. I am working hard towards it!  My parents fully support me and hope my dream comes true.

Frog Crazy

Guess what??
We finally have some frogs and they are hopping mad.  We put some large rocks in the frog container which Bella kindly got for us but it seems like they prefer the walls better.  Here are some pictures to keep you updated.

We had a fantastic representation at assembly today from Cleo W and Zara G who were the presenters doing an outstanding job of speaking clearly, using both facial and vocal expression and kept assembly moving along seamlessly.
Ayrton was our PA collecting the certificates and selecting the best assembly class.
A great job done guys.

Yes we are all still alive in Room 2!

We have had a busy few weeks with camps, testing and getting our routines back in place and we are now working like Trojans to produce some quality work to share with you.  We are doing some creative writing about camp experiences

The beginning of a piece by Charli F  (Lakewood Lodge)
Above me I can hear the warm night breeze rustling the leaves and branches overhead.  I can hear the crickets as they chirp out their loud night song.  I can almost feel the heat from the shimmering stars resting in the black sheet of sky. High above me owls and late night birds chatter among themselves flitting from branch to branch.

The beginning of a piece by Nicholas Bremer  (Piha)
Above me the scorching hot sun burning in the beautiful vibrant blue sky.  The birds squawking loudly in the cool summer air.  Breaking waves crashing loudly, carrying children to the shore then hopping quickly back out to sea.

Some camp photos from
Lakewood  Lodge.  Get your children to share the rest with you through their google drive.
